The closing ceremony of ‘Swarnim 70 Years,’ organized by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Uttarakhand, took place in Haridwar and was attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The Chief Minister was greeted by officials and youth of the Mazdoor Sangh. Dhami inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp, with a large number of youth present. He also participated in a youth worker conference.
This event took place following Uttarakhand’s implementation of the first Yoga Policy in India. The Dhami-led cabinet approved the Yoga Policy, with the vision of establishing Uttarakhand as a global hub for yoga and wellness. The policy supports the development of yoga and meditation centers with subsidies up to Rs 20 lakh and provides grants up to Rs 10 lakh for research in yoga, meditation, and naturopathy. The government plans to establish five new yoga hubs by 2030 and ensure yoga services are available in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers by March 2026.
During the event, the Chief Minister planted an apple tree under the ‘Ek Vriksha Yoga ke Naam’ program. He also announced the government’s intention to establish one Spiritual Economic Zone in both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to promote Ayurvedic and Naturopathy, Yoga, and Spiritual Tourism. Moreover, plans are underway to establish two new towns in the hilly areas of the state, designed to establish the state’s unique identity on the global map as a hub for Yoga, Ayurveda, and Spirituality.
