The Gujarat government will observe a day of state mourning to honor former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who died in the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. As a mark of respect, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings, and there will be no official entertainment. Rupani’s funeral is scheduled for Rajkot. Extensive DNA testing has been conducted to identify the victims of the crash, and the remains of 86 individuals have been positively identified to date. The tragic incident involving Air India Flight 171, which was bound for London, resulted in a total of 270 fatalities. Among the casualties was Vijay Rupani, who was traveling to London to see his daughter. One passenger survived the crash. The AAIB has retrieved the black box, initiating the investigation. Air India is assisting the families of those affected by the tragedy.
