Today marks the commencement of the Winter Session of Parliament, where the government plans to advance a comprehensive legislative agenda. A substantial number of bills are expected to be presented for consideration. The Opposition, however, is poised to raise critical matters, with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in several states and the deteriorating air quality in Delhi being prominent on their agenda.
Additional issues, including past electoral disputes and recent incidents, could also be brought up for discussion. Prior to the session’s start, the government organized an all-party meeting involving 50 leaders from 36 political parties to cultivate consensus and promote the smooth functioning of the legislative bodies. Key opposition parties have also been engaged in strategic planning to effectively voice their concerns. The session is scheduled to conclude on December 19th, highlighting its importance for national policy and legislative outcomes.
