The city of Patna is reeling from the assassination of Gopal Khemka, a prominent businessman and leader within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The deadly incident took place last night outside his residence, near Gandhi Maidan South, at approximately 11 p.m. This devastating event mirrors the earlier murder of his son, Gunjan Khemka, six years prior.
Law enforcement has secured the scene, collecting crucial evidence, including a bullet and a shell casing. Khemka, a resident of the Twin Tower society, was targeted by an unidentified individual as he approached his home. Police are currently reviewing available CCTV footage in an effort to identify the perpetrator. Details surrounding the motive for this heinous crime are still under investigation.
Khemka, a well-known figure, was the owner of Magadh Hospital and affiliated with several social organizations. The murder has sparked significant criticism of the Nitish Kumar-led government, spearheaded by Purnea MP Pappu Yadav, who condemned the rising crime rates in Bihar.
