After publicly reprimanding Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar, the Chief Medical Officer of Goa Medical College (GMC), Goa’s Health Minister Vishwajit Rane issued a public apology, acknowledging the fallout from the incident. The reprimand, which was captured on video, sparked widespread criticism and fueled political tensions.
The Health Minister took to social media to address the incident, expressing his regret for the manner in which he handled the situation. He highlighted the politicization of the matter, as opposition parties called for his resignation. He also reiterated his respect for medical professionals and their dedication to the community.
While acknowledging his lapse in communication, the Minister clarified his focus on patient care and the effective functioning of the public health system. Concerns were raised about disruptions in services at GMC, and he urged doctors to remember their responsibility to the public. The incident has now been addressed by the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, who overturned the decision made by the Health Minister.
