The ancient martial art of Gatka has achieved a significant milestone by being included in the Pythian Cultural Games. International Gatka competitions are scheduled to take place in Moscow next year, featuring participation from various nations. The announcement was made by Bijender Goel, Chairman of the Pythian Council of India and Founder of the Pythian Games, during the 12th National Gatka Championship in New Delhi. Goel expressed support for the global expansion of Gatka through the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI). Shantanu Agrahari, President of the Pythian Council, elaborated on the Pythian Games’ significance. Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh acknowledged Gatka’s growing popularity as a sport and a method of self-defense and presented awards to the winners. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, President of the Asian Gatka Federation, along with Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of the NGAI, highlighted the importance of Gatka’s inclusion in the Pythian Games, which follows its presence in other national sporting events. Other prominent individuals also attended the event.
