The Jharkhand ATS completed a significant operation by extraditing notorious gangster Mayank Singh, also known as Sunil Meena, from Azerbaijan and bringing him to Ranchi. A team led by SP Rishav Kumar Jha of the Jharkhand ATS, after completing the legal formalities, brought Mayank Singh back to India. Special security measures were put in place at Birsa Munda Airport.
According to SP Rishav Kumar Jha, this marks the first successful extradition in the history of the Jharkhand Police. The police are optimistic that other criminals abroad will also be brought to India soon through similar procedures. The police are grateful for the support from the DGP, Chief Minister, and state and central governments. Mayank Singh is accused in more than 50 cases across various states, including Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Punjab. He is also linked to the criminal gang of Aman Sahu, playing a crucial role in connecting with other gangsters from Rajasthan, according to police. Singh will be presented in a Ramgarh court, where police will seek his remand for further investigation. He was arrested in Dat, Azerbaijan, in October 2024.
