The Oberoi Square complex in Goregaon East, Mumbai, is reeling from another tragedy after a 17-year-old girl reportedly took her own life on Thursday by jumping from the 23rd floor. This is the fourth suicide to occur within the complex in the last six months. The Aarey police are investigating the incident and have filed an accidental death report. No suicide note was found.
Authorities have stated that the girl was receiving treatment for depression. She lived on the 23rd floor of the Oberoi building, C Wing, and was a student in Class 11. Her father’s profession was in construction.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon while the girl was studying in her bedroom. Her mother and grandparents were present, while her father was at work. Around 3:30 p.m., she allegedly jumped from her bedroom window. Her family stated that she had been dealing with depression for several years and was receiving care at Ambani Hospital.
The Oberoi complex is now under increased scrutiny due to the troubling number of suicides among its residents. In the last six months, four separate suicide incidents have occurred within the complex.
Previously, 22-year-old Anant Dwivedi reportedly died by suicide after jumping from the 45th floor of the Oberoi E-Square building. A 17-year-old schoolgirl also allegedly died by suicide from the 45th floor of the same complex on May 28, 2025.
