At the same time, in the midst of the farmer movements, the central government has said that in the current kharif marketing season, so far, procurement of paddy at the minimum support price (MSP) has increased by 22.5 percent to 368.7 lakh tonnes as compared to the same period last year. This purchase was made for Rs 69,612 crore. An official statement issued by the government said that in the current Kharif marketing season 2020-21 starting from October 2020, the government is continuously purchasing Kharif crops from farmers at the minimum support price.
