Renu Katre, the 44-year-old wife of a MHADA Sub-registrar, was discovered dead in her residence in Kandivali East. While the initial assessment pointed towards suicide, Renu Katre’s family contests this, expressing concerns over the circumstances surrounding her death.
It is understood that Renu had previously accused her husband of harassment. Her brother has said that she took her life after a disagreement on Saturday night, maintaining that it was a case of murder.
The Mumbai Police are looking into the matter after registering a case under Section 108 of the BNS.
Separately, a family of four in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district also died by suicide. Police reports indicate the family members consumed sulfas tablets. The victims were identified as Manohar Lodhi (45), his son Ankit (16), daughter Shivani (18), and grandmother Phulrani Lodhi (70). The incident took place in Tehar village, and the motive for this extreme step is still under investigation.
