Eight Arrested in Sector‑63 Mobile Theft Ring, Hundreds of Parts Recovered

A coordinated operation by the Noida Police in Sector‑63 led to the arrest of eight individuals linked to a mobile‑snatching syndicate. The suspects were apprehended on August 5‑6 following a blend of local intelligence and confidential tips.

From the raid, authorities confiscated an extensive cache: 98 mobile phones, 100 screen panels, 207 batteries, 40 handset casings, 103 back‑cover panels, ten screwdrivers, an unlawful knife and a two‑wheeler stolen from Delhi. In total, more than 300 items were recovered, a figure that places the seizure among the most significant in recent years.

The two primary offenders, Kushal and Ramesh (also known as Golu), admitted to snatching phones from unsuspecting pedestrians and selling them to the remaining six members of the gang. Those six—Nizamuddin, Arif, Sonu, Chotte, Gulfam and Harun—were later booked after police traced the flow of the stolen phones.

The gang operated on a low‑cost model, buying the pilfered handsets for ₹1,500‑₹2,000, dismantling them for parts, and reselling the components. The main accused claimed to work as a rapid‑bike taxi driver, using his vehicle to approach victims.

Most accused hail from Etah, Hardoi and Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh but were residing in the Noida sector at the time of arrest. Their educational background varies from primary to secondary level, with a few lacking formal schooling.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against all eight under applicable theft and criminal conspiracy statutes. Police continue to match the recovered devices with their owners and to dismantle the broader network that supports mobile theft in the region.
