The Election Commission responded to criticism on August 17th by detailing the perceived neglect of ground realities. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar affirmed that the commission is accessible to all equally. He highlighted that voters, political parties, and booth-level officers are working together transparently at the ground level, with verifications, signatures, and video testimonials. The Election Commissioner pointed out that verified documents and testimonials from district presidents and BLOs may not be reaching their leaders or might be used to spread misinformation.
The Election Commission also denied accusations of vote theft from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, stating that all political parties are treated equally and are born through registration, therefore no discrimination is possible. The commission views all parties as equal, without bias. The commission reiterated its commitment to its duties. It noted that all parties had requested revisions to voter lists and the SIR in Bihar was a result of these requests. The commission also noted that there are still 15 days available for corrections in Bihar, encouraging political parties to report any issues with the voter list.
