The government has launched a FASTag annual pass to make highway travel more convenient for private vehicle owners and to simplify the toll payment process. Introduced on Independence Day, this pass utilizes RFID technology for automatic toll deductions from the prepaid account linked to the vehicle, eliminating the need for frequent FASTag recharges. This annual prepaid facility is exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans. This pass allows users to travel continuously on National Highways and Expressways without stopping at toll plazas. The annual pass is only valid at toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways; standard FASTag charges apply elsewhere. To get the pass, visit the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI/MoRTH website. Login using your vehicle number and FASTag ID, ensure your FASTag is active and connected to your vehicle, and pay Rs 3000. The pass will then be added to your current FASTag. The pass is available for owners whose FASTag is connected to their Vehicle Registration Number (VRN). If the FASTag is linked only to the chassis number, updating the VRN and mobile number is required. Existing FASTag users with updated KYC do not require a new tag; the pass can be activated on their current tag. Remember that the pass is non-transferable, and transfer attempts could lead to FASTag blacklisting. Vehicles with incomplete information, such as an absent VRN or mobile number, need to update these details.
