Delhi Weather Alert: 6–8 Degree Drop Coming in Next 72 Hours

The national capital is still firmly in the grip of a severe heatwave. Wednesday’s observations showed the Ridge peaking at 45.6°C, Ayanagar at 45.4°C, and readings between 44.3°C and 44.6°C across Palam, Lodhi Road, and Safdarjung. With heatwave conditions persisting, the India Meteorological Department has repeated its appeal for caution and hydration. However, meteorological guidance now points to a welcome change. After a stable Thursday, temperatures are set to tumble sharply over the subsequent three days. Daytime maxima may fall by six to eight degrees, and overnight minima could ease by four to six degrees, significantly improving living conditions for millions. The pattern shift will begin with increasing cloudiness and brisk winds. Thursday is expected to feature partly cloudy to overcast skies, daytime winds of 20–30 kmph gusting to 40 kmph, and evening thunderstorms with gusts of 50–70 kmph. Friday should see even stronger activity: widespread clouds, scattered showers, and gusts approaching 80 kmph. Light rain and moderate winds are likely to linger through the weekend, ensuring the capital stays cooler than it has been in recent days.
