To help guests, invitees, and the public attend the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort, the Delhi Metro will operate on a special schedule on August 15th. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has confirmed that services will start at 4:00 AM. Trains will run every 30 minutes from all terminal stations on all lines between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM. After 6:00 AM, the metro will run according to its regular schedule.
The Ministry of Defence will provide special QR tickets for access to the event to those with official invitation letters. These tickets will provide travel to and from the ceremony, with the Ministry of Defence compensating the Delhi Metro for the fare.
The Delhi Traffic Police have rerouted traffic near the Red Fort, and the DMRC has also made special arrangements to help passengers reach their destinations.
Security has been heightened across the Delhi Metro network. The DMRC anticipates potential long queues at certain stations during peak hours, which could last until August 15th. Passengers are encouraged to plan their trips ahead and allow sufficient time for travel.
Preparations for Independence Day are in full swing, with a full dress rehearsal at the Red Fort. The early metro start time aims to make it easier for people to travel to the Red Fort and other venues hosting events.
