A complex Delhi acid attack investigation has taken an unexpected turn with the arrest of the victim’s father, casting doubt on the initial narrative. The incident, targeting a Delhi University student near Laxmi Bai College, has been complicated by inconsistencies and potential familial connections.
The 20-year-old student reported being attacked on October 26, suffering burns to her hands and minor splashes to her stomach. Her initial account identified Jitender, a painter, and his associates as assailants, alleging a history of stalking.
However, CCTV footage and other evidence soon contradicted these claims. Records placed Jitender miles away at a painting job during the time of the attack, and surveillance cameras failed to capture any suspicious activity around the crime scene. Forensic tests confirmed the use of acid, but the circumstances of its application remained unclear.
Adding to the mystery, the victim’s father has now been apprehended. Located hiding in Ghaziabad, the factory owner is being investigated for a possible role in orchestrating the attack or influencing the complaint. This development coincides with a separate FIR concerning allegations of sexual harassment and extortion made by the wife of one of the initially accused individuals against the victim’s father.
Further examination of CCTV footage revealed the victim was dropped off by her brother and subsequently boarded an e-rickshaw before the attack. The inconsistencies in the timeline and evidence, coupled with the father’s arrest, suggest a potential family vendetta or an attempt to manipulate the legal proceedings. The interrogation of the arrested father is a critical next step in resolving this perplexing case.
