Dehradun, Uttarakhand, faced a destructive cloudburst in the Karligarh Sahastradhara area on Monday night. The incident triggered flash floods that caused widespread damage to homes, shops, and hotels. The impact extended beyond Sahastradhara, with debris affecting the area near the IT Park and increasing the Song River’s water level. The local administration has closed all schools (grades 1-12) for Tuesday, September 16. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Dehradun, forecasting exceptionally heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. The Tamsa, Chandrabhaga, and Sahastradhara rivers swelled due to the downpour. The Tapkeshwar Mahadev Shivalinga complex was among the hardest hit, with videos showing a significant buildup of debris. The bridge near Fun Valley and Uttarakhand Dental College on the Dehradun–Haridwar National Highway was also significantly impacted.
