The swearing-in ceremony for CP Radhakrishnan, the newly elected Vice President of India, is set for Friday, September 12, at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi. The ceremony will mark Radhakrishnan’s official entry into the office as the 15th Vice President, in the presence of numerous distinguished guests. President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office.
Attendees include Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who have traveled to the capital for the event.
Radhakrishnan, who ran on the NDA ticket, was elected Vice President on Tuesday with 452 votes, defeating B. Sudershan Reddy, the INDIA Bloc candidate and a former Supreme Court judge, who received 300 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Radhakrishnan after the election results, expressing his belief in the new Vice President’s capacity to reinforce India’s constitutional principles and promote constructive parliamentary discussions.
