The Karnataka Cabinet has sanctioned an increase in the reservation quota for minority communities within its housing schemes, elevating it from 10 percent to 15 percent. Minister HK Patil confirmed that no new legislation is required for implementation. The reservation will apply to all minority groups, including Christians, Jains, and Buddhists. The decision sparked a strong reaction from BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya, who criticized the move as “brazen,” “illegal,” and “unconstitutional” in a social media post. Malviya asserted that the Congress government is leveraging this policy for political gain, aiming to divide communities and disrupt the social fabric of Karnataka. The change will affect all housing schemes overseen by the state’s Urban and Rural Development Departments.
