The Voter Rights March in Bihar, organized by the Mahagathbandhan, saw the inclusion of Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy joined the march on its tenth day, leading to criticism from Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor.
Prashant Kishor stated that “If the Congress, Rahul Gandhi, and the alliance have brought Revanth Reddy to Bihar for campaigning, it shows what they think about Bihar. Revanth Reddy is the same person who said that it is in the DNA of the people of Bihar to work as laborers.”
He added, “If the Congress brings such a person on the Bihar stage, it is the responsibility of every person in Bihar to send him back to Telangana. So that he remembers, if the people of Bihar are only born to do labor, why is he asking for votes here?”
Earlier, Prashant Kishor posted on X, saying that “Revanth says that the DNA of Biharis is labor. Rahul Gandhi is showcasing him on the stage of Bihar, which shows their anti-Bihar mindset. If Revanth comes to the village, the public will chase him away with sticks and batons.”
The controversy stems from a two-year-old statement made by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy. Prashant Kishor highlighted that statement and said it was an insult to the people of Bihar. Reddy, in December 2024, had targeted the then-CM KCR and stated, “My DNA is from Telangana, KCR’s DNA is from Bihar. Telangana’s DNA is better than Bihar’s.”
Reddy’s remarks created a major controversy. Numerous political parties opposed it. BJP leaders labeled it as casteist and divisive. The inclusion of Reddy in the Voter Rights March has brought the controversy back into the spotlight.
