A yellow alert has been declared for 18 districts in Chhattisgarh, with significant rainfall reported across the state. Raipur saw overnight rainfall from Friday and continued showers on Saturday morning. Bijapur received the highest amount of rainfall, totaling 56 mm in the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department indicates that the current weather pattern is caused by an atmospheric circulation in the Bay of Bengal, and is expected to continue for the next two days.
The districts included in the yellow alert are Raipur, Surguja, GPM, Korba, Dhamtari, Kondagaon, Gariaband, Bijapur, and Bastar. The advisory warns of potential thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in these areas.
In a separate development, a family in the Takhatpur area of Bilaspur was struck by lightning. Sadly, one person died, and two others were injured. The injured individuals have been admitted to SIMS Hospital, and their condition is reported as serious.
