In a move to bolster cricket training and player development, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to establish a modern cricket academy in Nava Raipur. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh will be granted 7.96 acres of land in Sector-3, Gram-Parsada, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for the construction of the academy.
The government has waived standard rules that prevent direct land allocation to non-profit organizations in this specific scenario to prioritize the construction of the academy. This aims to provide better training and facilities for the state’s cricketers.
Chhattisgarh holds significant prospects in cricket, with local players already demonstrating their skills at the national level. The presence of the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium highlights the need for an academy equipped with international-standard infrastructure and training. The academy is expected to pave the way for promising young athletes and elevate the state’s standing nationally and internationally, thereby strengthening Chhattisgarh’s position in the sports arena.
