The Hareli festival, a celebration of Chhattisgarhi culture, took place at Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s residence on July 24th. The event presented traditional agricultural implements and clothing, offering a glimpse into Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage. The display demonstrated the unique tools and practices central to the state’s traditions.
Items on display included the ‘Katha,’ a wooden structure used to measure paddy. The ‘Khumri,’ a bamboo head covering, provided protection from the sun and rain. The ‘Kasi Ki Dori,’ a rope made from the stem of the ‘Kasi’ plant, was used in weaving. The ‘Jhanpi,’ a wooden container, served as storage. The ‘Kalari,’ a tool used for turning paddy during threshing, was also showcased.
