Raipur, the state government has launched a special campaign to ensure that the benefit of reduction in GST rates in Chhattisgarh reaches the public directly. Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary today visited various markets in the capital and interacted with shopkeepers and consumers and talked about ensuring the impact of reforms at the ground level. MLA Anuj Sharma was also present on this occasion.
Finance Minister Shri Chaudhary said that it is the top priority of the government that the impact of GST reforms should reach the public directly. He informed that strict instructions have been given to the officers and employees of the State GST Department to regularly visit each market and ensure that the benefit of the reduction is not limited to papers only, but reaches the pockets of the consumers.
He further said that the Chhattisgarh government is determined that the common people should get direct benefit from the simplification and reduction of GST rates. The government is committed to making essential goods available to the people at even more affordable prices and the impact of the reforms can be clearly felt in every household.
The Finance Minister said that the ‘GST Savings Festival’ has been started from September 22, 2025, on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. Under this festival, a significant reduction has been made on goods used by the general public. This includes many household items like hair oil, soap, shampoo, electrical and electronic goods, bicycles, small cars, air conditioners, TVs, tractors. Direct relief is being given to the general public on all these.
He also directed the officers that during the visit to the markets, they should give complete information about the reduction in rates to the traders and establish direct communication with the consumers. It is necessary to explain to them that the prices of goods have come down due to the reduction in GST rates and the purpose of this reform is to reach this relief to the consumers.
Finance Minister Shri Chaudhary said that “GST Savings Festival is not just a formal initiative, but it is a concrete effort to improve the standard of living of the common people. This initiative will boost the state’s economy, increase the confidence of consumers and also encourage trade.”
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had announced the reduction and simplification of GST rates while addressing the nation from the Red Fort on August 15. After this, according to the decisions taken in the 56th meeting of the GST Council, these provisions have been implemented across the country from September 22, 2025.
