Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, and other ministers washed the feet of the beneficiaries of PM Awas.
Raipur, May 13, 2025 / We are Pahari Korwa, connected to the forest, whatever we have is all the forest. Not only our ancestors, but our lives have also been spent in struggles. No one even wiped our tears…no one cared about us. Today, we are getting clean water…roads to the village…schools in the village…Ayushman cards for treatment of diseases and permanent houses. We are being helped to stand on our own feet, and our feet are being washed. This is our good fortune. Thank you to all those who remembered us and are giving us respect. This is what Phoolo Bai and Shani Ram Korwa of the specially backward tribal family Pahari Korwa have to say.
These Pahari Korwa families were overwhelmed and felt proud after Union Agriculture and Panchayat Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai washed their feet before the housewarming after getting a home under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Awas Yojana. Union Agriculture and Panchayat Minister Shri Shivraj Singh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, and other guests, who were on a visit to Chhattisgarh, today washed the feet of the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and helped them enter their homes in Ambikapur. On this occasion, keys to houses were handed over to 51,000 beneficiaries of the state.
Phoolo Bai, a resident of Gram Pandrapath under Bagicha Block of Jashpur district, says that her life has been full of struggles. After the death of her husband two years ago, her difficulties increased even more. She said that as long as her husband was alive, she had full faith that they would build a permanent house one day, but his untimely death dashed her hopes. The Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi, has taken care of the specially backward tribal families living in the forest areas. With the initiative of the Prime Minister, the fortunes of us backward tribes have opened up. Along with all kinds of government facilities, we are also getting permanent houses.
Shani Ram, a Pahari Korwa of Gram Dhelwadan-Bokai Panchayat, District Surguja, said that many generations of us have lived around the forests. Our generations drank water from ditches. We lived in grass-thatched houses and somehow spent our lives in fear during storms and rains. We never even thought that one day the difficult days of our lives would change. Now, our permanent houses are being built with PM Janman. We are getting tap connections, electricity connections. Cards are being made for treatment. A pucca road is being built to the village. The respect given to us by washing our feet is a pleasant experience, this is the beginning of changing the fate of our coming generation, we are short of words to express our gratitude for this.
