An IED explosion orchestrated by Naxalites in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, led to the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje, while the SDOP and the station in-charge sustained serious injuries. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai offered his condolences and stated that the attack was both tragic and deplorable. He also mentioned that proper treatment is being provided to the injured officers. The CM said the state is engaged in a decisive war against Naxalites and that the Naxalites’ cowardly acts are a response to the successes of the security forces. He assured the government’s full support to the family of the martyred officer. ASP Giripunje, a recipient of a Gallantry Award, was known for his courage and commitment. His death is a significant loss for the Chhattisgarh Police. In response to the attack, Sukma district has been placed on high alert. Search operations have been amplified, and additional security forces have been deployed. The injured officers have been admitted to a hospital for improved medical care.
