In Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, a Sarpanch and a Gram Panchayat Secretary are in custody, facing charges of embezzling ₹18.42 lakh. The arrest followed a complaint alleging misappropriation of government funds. The case originated in the Arrahanpur police station area, involving the former Sarpanch of Nilavaya Gram Panchayat, Ramesh Korram, and Secretary Anoj Kumar Mandavi. The investigation revealed they are accused of financial irregularities in utilizing funds from the DMF account for essential and construction projects in the Nilavaya Gram Panchayat during 2022-2025. After a complaint, the Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Panchayat Dantewada constituted a three-member investigation committee. The committee’s findings led the Arrahanpur police to register a case under the BNS 2023. Under the guidance of senior police officers, the arrests were made on June 23rd and 24th, and the accused were presented before the court and placed on judicial remand. The arrested individuals are Anoj Kumar Mandavi, the former Gram Panchayat Secretary, and Ramesh Korram, the former Sarpanch of Nilavaya.
