A commendable step towards the self-reliance of rural women, continuous support from Sakti administration
Raipur, October 17, 2025 / On the occasion of major festivals like Diwali, women from District Sakti working under the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) have set a new example of self-reliance. An important initiative towards women’s empowerment and job creation
This innovative initiative is making a significant contribution towards the economic empowerment and job creation for women. The District Administration Sakti is providing continuous support and guidance to the sisters for product manufacturing, packaging, and marketing. Group member Mrs. Pushpa Didi said that the group manufactures various items like rakhis, rangoli, pickles, gulal, and wax products keeping in mind the festive season. She said that these activities have not only brought us economic benefits but also increased our confidence.
Income of up to 2 lakh rupees for the group
Pushpa Didi further informed that the sisters of the group had previously received training in making designer candles from R-SETE (ASDM). After this, the idea of preparing gift hampers came through YouTube videos. Currently, gift hamper orders have been received from various industries and institutions in the district, which are being supplied by the sisters on time and in attractive packaging. Through this initiative, the group is likely to get business worth approximately 1 lakh 50 thousand to 2 lakh rupees. They have received orders for gift hampers worth about 60 thousand rupees so far. This effort is making rural women self-reliant, providing them with sustainable livelihoods and new opportunities for entrepreneurship. This initiative, operated under the Bihan Mission, is an excellent example of women’s creativity, hard work, and innovation, which will serve as a source of inspiration for other groups as well.
