Following an order from the CJM, the Raipur administration has seized the luxurious bungalow of the Tomar Brothers, known for their money-lending activities. The property, located in Bhathagaon, had 1500 square feet belonging to each brother. According to the Raipur SDM, the property has been seized, preventing any alterations or sales without court approval.
The police filed a petition to seize the property, leading the court to issue a final warning. The brothers were given until August 18th to appear in court. Earlier, the municipal corporation had demolished Rohit Tomar’s illegal office using a bulldozer. The brothers have been on the run for two months.
The case originated with property dealer Dashmeet Chawla, who filed an FIR at Telibandha police station, accusing Rohit Tomar of assault. Police have been searching for Rohit since. After Rohit’s disappearance, his brother, Virendra Tomar, also went missing. The police dispatched teams across several states, but no arrests have been made.
Victims are feeling less afraid.
The Tomar brothers have a history of intimidation, which kept victims from reporting the crimes, even while living in the same city. However, since police started the actions against Virendra and Rohit, the victims’ fear is diminishing.
More than six FIRs have been registered against the brothers. The accusations include illegal extortion, threats, and violations under the Chhattisgarh Debtors Protection Act.
