    Target to make more than four lakh ‘Didis’ into ‘Lakhpati Didis’ (millionaire sisters) – Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan

    Raipur / Ambikapur: During the “Mor Awas Mor Adhikar” (My House My Right) program in Ambikapur, women from self-help groups who have done remarkable work in various fields under the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission were honored. Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai felicitated these women by presenting them with certificates of appreciation and mementos.

    On this occasion, BC Sakhi (banking correspondent) Smt. Baleshwari Yadav, a resident of Gram Panchayat Losangi, Development Block Lakhanpur, Sarguja district, was honored for providing banking facilities at the local level to needy beneficiaries in five Gram Panchayats and for conducting financial transactions worth Rs 11.24 crore so far. Similarly, Gender Resource Person Smt. Ambe Das from Gram Panchayat Kevari was honored for resolving 37 cases of domestic violence through women’s organizations and ensuring the safe return of 3 girls who were victims of human trafficking.

    Smt. Nirmala Ekka, a member of Sanjeevani Self-Help Group from Gram Mendrakala, Development Block Ambikapur, started a centering plate and mixer business by taking a loan from the group. She is currently providing centering material to 10 houses being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme). Due to her annual income exceeding Rs 1 lakh, she was honored as a ‘Lakhpati Didi’. Smt. Babita Yadav of Chanda Self-Help Group from the same Panchayat also started a cement and gravel business by taking a loan from the group. She is actively participating in building construction in the Panchayat and surrounding areas. She has established self-reliance in business along with timely repayment of the loan.

    Smt. Chandni Singh of Radha Mahila Self-Help Group, under District Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, was honored for earning an annual income of Rs 2.5 lakh by starting poultry farming and vegetable production work through bank linkage and community investment fund.

    In the program, Union Minister Shri Chouhan also distributed beneficiary-oriented materials to the beneficiaries of various schemes. Under the Shakambhari Yojana, farmers Shri Brij Kumar and Shri Moharlal Singh of Gram Kotia (Development Block Ambikapur) were provided with two H.P. pumps. On this occasion, Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu, Chhattisgarh Government Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Public Health and Medical Education Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, along with Rajya Sabha MPs, Lok Sabha MPs, MLAs, Corporation-Board Chairpersons and senior administrative officers were present.
