A widow from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, faces the potential loss of her government job after the High Court took a grim view of her alleged mistreatment of her mother-in-law. The petitioner, Gyanti Tiwari, sought the cancellation of her daughter-in-law's appointment, claiming she was left destitute despite a written undertaking of support. The Bilaspur High Court highlighted that a compassionate appointment is a form of assistance for a family in distress. Justice A.K. Prasad stated that when a person accepts such a role, they also accept the duty to care for the dependents of the deceased employee.
