In a brutal display of violence, Naxalites murdered three villagers in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday. Police were quickly dispatched to the crime scene after receiving information about the incident. The victims were killed by having their throats slit. The killings are believed to be a tactic by the Naxalites to create panic and intimidate the public amid ongoing anti-Naxal operations. Following the incident, search operations have been intensified. The killing of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje in an IED blast in Sukma has further increased tensions. The government has reiterated its commitment to eliminate Naxalism by the set deadline of March 31, 2026. The state home minister has clarified that anti-Naxal operations will continue during the monsoon season.
