The Mungeli district observed International Yoga Day with a mass yoga session attended by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao. He joined MLA Punnu Lal Mohle and district officials in practicing yoga. The event, held at the Adarsh Krishi Upaj Mandi complex, focused on the theme of “Yoga Sangam, Harit Yoga” to mark the 11th International Yoga Day. Yoga experts Vivek Kesharwani and Purushottam Jaiswal led the participants in practicing yoga, including pranayama.
Speaking at the event, Deputy CM Arun Sao emphasized the necessity of yoga for maintaining a healthy mind and body amidst modern life’s pace. He asserted that yoga is fundamental for a healthy, balanced, and disciplined life. He noted the increasing interest in yoga and encouraged those present to incorporate it into their daily schedules for physical and mental strength.
MLA Punnu Lal Mohle spoke about the peace and self-satisfaction derived from yoga and its role in preventing diseases. He also thanked the district administration for organizing such a successful event.
The yoga session saw participation from a host of dignitaries, including Mungeli Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey, Collector Kundan Kumar, Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel, Divisional Forest Officer Abhinav Kumar, Additional Collector Nishtha Pandey Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Prabhakar Pandey, Mungeli Municipal President Rohit Shukla, and Vice President Jaiprakash Mishra, along with other elected officials, esteemed citizens, and students.
Following the yoga practice, a tree-planting drive, part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, was conducted. Deputy CM Arun Sao planted a Bahera sapling, promoting environmental protection under the theme “Water, Forest, People, a Natural Management.” He commended the tree plantation as an innovative step on International Yoga Day and encouraged people to plant more trees. MLA Punnu Lal Mohle planted a Peepal tree, and Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey planted a Bahera sapling to motivate the public to plant trees.
