Under the direction of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Chhattisgarh is implementing comprehensive reforms in medical admission rules to support medical education and ease the path for aspiring doctors. These changes, applicable for the 2025 admissions, aim to enhance the admission process for MBBS, BDS, and BPT courses. Key improvements include a preference for Chhattisgarh-domiciled candidates in filling vacant seats within the management and NRI quotas of private medical colleges allocated for SC, ST, and OBC candidates. The mandatory bond service period has been shortened to a minimum of one year. The entire counseling procedure will transition to an online format, promoting both convenience and transparency. Income certificate requirements for the OBC category have also been streamlined. Unfilled seats in the EWS category will now be made available to candidates from the unreserved category. According to the Medical Education Department, the updated counseling process will begin on July 30, 2025. These reforms demonstrate the government’s dedication to providing more opportunities and streamlining the admission process for medical students across the state.
