In a remarkable turn of events for security operations in Chhattisgarh, 50 Naxal cadres have surrendered in the Kanker district. Notably, 32 of these individuals were women, marking a significant demographic in the surrender. The surrender took place at the Kamtera camp of the BSF’s 40th Battalion, with the group also relinquishing 39 weapons.
This coordinated action is considered a major success against Maoist insurgency, particularly impacting the Naxal network in the Maad region. The surrendered cadres included high-ranking members, whose decision to lay down arms is anticipated to have a ripple effect on others. Security forces are actively engaging with communities and implementing outreach strategies to encourage more insurgents to return to society. This marks the first significant surrender from the northern Maad region, and there are strong indications that around 120 more cadres will surrender in the Bijapur district by Thursday, further strengthening the anti-insurgency efforts.
