In Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, two education workers have been murdered by Maoists. Their bodies were discovered in the forest near the village of Pilur on July 15. Vinod Made, who was an education envoy, has been identified as one of the victims. The Maoists accused the victims of being police informants. The incident is under investigation, and official confirmation is awaited. The area where the incident occurred falls under the Pharasgarh police station.
This follows a spate of killings in Bijapur. In the past two weeks, Maoists have killed six people on suspicion of being informers, including four villagers and two students. Maoists have been responsible for the deaths of 1,821 individuals over the last 25 years.
