A tragic incident in Jhabdi village, under the jurisdiction of the Kasdol police station, led to a violent clash between two groups, culminating in the fatal stabbing of a young man on Sunday night. The situation took a turn for the worse when villagers reacted to the police presence by pelting stones at the officers as they tried to arrest the accused.
This violent outburst was the result of an ongoing feud between residents of Jhabdi and Madkada villages. The conflict involved Nanu (Trilokchand Kaushik) from Jhabdi and Lucky Kewat and Ajay Kewat from Madkada, who had a history of conflict. Even after complaints were filed with the police, the unresolved issues only served to exacerbate the tensions.
The fatal attack took place on Sunday evening when the deceased, Nanu, and his associate, Hemchandra, were ambushed near Madkada village. The assailants used a sharp weapon, leading to Nanu’s death on the spot, while Hemchandra was critically injured and transferred to Raipur.
When the police team arrived in Madkada village to arrest the suspects, they encountered aggressive resistance. Enraged villagers surrounded the police vehicle and initiated a stone-pelting attack. In response to this escalating situation, ASP Abhishek Singh, the SDM, and the Kasdol SDOP, along with additional forces, rushed to the scene. Two of the officers’ vehicles were damaged by the stone-throwing. After an extensive effort, the police successfully apprehended Ajay Kewat and Lucky Kewat and took them into custody at the Kasdol police station. The village is currently under increased police surveillance.
