The Morwa police station area of Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh is reeling from a horrific incident where a young woman from the Hardibazar police station area of Korba district, Chhattisgarh, was allegedly raped and murdered. The incident happened three days ago. The local police are under scrutiny for their alleged negligence and lack of a serious approach to the case.
Sources indicate that the victim’s body remained outside a Morwa hospital for three days. Local doctors refused to conduct a post-mortem, stating that the body had decomposed. The body was eventually transferred to Rewa Medical College Hospital, where it arrived on Monday night. The victim’s father, who worked in Singrauli, recently passed away. Her mother is currently employed under a compassionate appointment.
The family claims to have filed a murder case at the Morwa police station, but the police have allegedly refused to register a rape case. They also allege that the police have been discouraging the victim’s relatives from staying at the police station, leading to anger and frustration. Senior police officers visited the scene to assess the situation and engage with the public. The family took the body back to Korba, where they blocked the road at Aamgaon Chowk and protested.
