In Korba, Chhattisgarh, a family identified a body found by the police as their son, Hariom Vaishnav, aged 27. He had vanished four days earlier during a visit to his in-laws’ place. The body bore an ‘R’ tattoo and matched the son’s physical characteristics. The family took the body home, readying for the funeral, when a stunning event unfolded. Hariom Vaishnav, alive, showed up at their door. The neighbors initially reacted with fear, mistaking him for a ghostly apparition. The truth, however, brought shock and joy. The event occurred in the Visrampur Gevra area within the Kusmunda police station’s jurisdiction. Hariom, who was married and had in-laws in the Darri area, disappeared without notice during a visit with his family four days previously. His family had been searching for him, and a missing person report was filed with the Darri police.
Meanwhile, a body was found in the Ahiran River in Danganiya, under the Bankimogora police station’s jurisdiction. Based on the missing person report, Hariom’s family was called to identify the body. They identified the body by its build and the ‘R’ tattoo on the hand. The body was confirmed to be Hariom. Due to being submerged in water, the body had become bloated, obscuring facial features. The police, following legal procedures, sent the body for a post-mortem examination and then handed it over to the family for the funeral. But, at approximately midnight, as the family was preparing the funeral, Hariom returned home alive, leaving the family bewildered. The police were notified, and the Kusmunda police alerted the Bankimogora police, since the body was found in that area. The body was transported to a local hospital mortuary, and the police now have to identify the deceased.
