Shravan had an 8 lakh reward, Rajesh had a 5 lakh reward, and Basanti had a 1 lakh reward. A search operation is currently in progress. The encounter took place in the Tiyarpani forests under the Kotwali police station area. The security forces were reportedly on a search mission after receiving information regarding the presence of Naxalites, leading to an exchange of fire on the Kanker-Dhamtari-Odisha border.
