A sorrowful event has unfolded in the Jagdalpur district, where two young children have died after drowning in a stone quarry pit located in Hazariguda village. The local authorities were alerted, and the SDRF team promptly initiated a rescue operation at the site. The deceased children have been identified by the police as Sandeep Nag, aged 5, and Jay Shree, aged 6. The team worked tirelessly and retrieved the bodies from the water. The bodies were subsequently transferred to the Medical College in Jagdalpur for post-mortem procedures. Reports indicate that the children were playing near the quarry when they unknowingly entered the deep water. The police are currently undertaking a full investigation of the matter. This unfortunate incident highlights the need for improved safety measures in and around the quarries and the potential dangers posed by unsecured pits. The community has expressed their concerns and requested that the quarry be made safe to prevent such occurrences from happening again.
