Raipur: Raipur Central Jail marked International Yoga Day with a special yoga and meditation session. Approximately 200 inmates and jail staff took part in the event. This was the first time International Meditation Day was also observed at the jail.
The session was facilitated by Ajay Singh, a senior instructor from the ‘Art of Living’ and former Yoga Commission member. He instructed the inmates on different techniques of meditation, pranayama, and yoga. Singh shared that these techniques offer benefits such as mental peace, emotional balance, stress management, and better sleep.
Jail Superintendent Amit Shandilya highlighted the necessity of incorporating yoga into lifestyle. The jail administration will be conducting regular yoga, pranayama, and Sudarshan Kriya camps in the near future.
The inmates participated with great enthusiasm and discipline, demonstrating their interest in reformative activities. This initiative is considered a significant step towards the mental and spiritual development of the inmates. The program has not only created a positive environment within the jail but also reinforced efforts towards the rehabilitation and reintegration of the inmates into society. This yoga initiative in Raipur Central Jail is providing a new dimension to the reformative culture.
