The Election Commission of India (ECI) is planning to extend its voter list revision across the country following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar. All states have been instructed to prepare for the process, which is scheduled to start in August. The Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) in each state have been directed to facilitate the voter list revision. Elections are scheduled in Bihar this year, while the states of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal will have assembly elections in 2026.
