In a case from Bilaspur, a woman has reported that her husband pronounced triple talaq after subjecting her to dowry demands and subsequent harassment. The incident occurred in the Tarbahar police station area. The victim, who married Nasir Ali in December 2022, faced physical and mental abuse shortly after the wedding. Despite her family fulfilling the dowry requests at the time of marriage, the husband continued to harass her. Eventually, the husband uttered ‘talaq’ three times, effectively ending the marriage and forcing the woman out of the house. The woman filed a complaint with the Mahila Thana, and the police have initiated legal proceedings. The husband, his mother-in-law, and others have been charged under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, and related laws concerning dowry harassment. The police are actively investigating the case.
