While attending a religious program in Bhilai, Shastri stated from the stage that he is an Indian citizen and therefore not subject to the same scrutiny as a foreigner regarding his travel arrangements. His arrival on December 25th had drawn sharp criticism from the Congress party, which accused the state government of misusing public resources for a private religious event. Shastri questioned the selective focus on his travel, arguing that individuals causing harm or engaging in corruption often face less public outcry. He highlighted his own work in areas such as promoting spiritual values, supporting healthcare, facilitating marriages for the less fortunate, and combating drug addiction. Shastri suggested that this criticism indicates a flawed perspective and expressed a desire to avoid further controversy. He clarified that he harbors no ill will towards those who have criticized him and thanked those who have supported him, also noting the influential role of media in amplifying public discussions.
