Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the unveiling of a new Buddha statue in Mainpat, Surguja district, and announced key development initiatives. The event highlighted the state’s commitment to promoting Buddhist values and fostering development. During the ceremony, CM Sai underscored the significance of the event and the importance of honoring Lord Buddha’s teachings of love, peace, and compassion.
CM Sai expressed his appreciation to the Tibetan community for the invitation and acknowledged the numerous locations in Chhattisgarh that celebrate Lord Buddha. He also highlighted Sirpur as an exceptional example of cultural diversity, showcasing the coexistence of Buddhist, Jain, and Sanatan traditions.
Reflecting on the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, CM Sai described him as a living embodiment of Buddhist principles and a source of inspiration worldwide. He acknowledged the global impact of the Dalai Lama’s teachings, with birthday greetings coming from global leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Regarding tourism, the Chief Minister highlighted the potential of Mainpat, emphasizing the government’s plans for comprehensive development. He noted that the state’s industrial policy gives priority to tourism, offering incentives for home stay ventures in Mainpat.
In response to requests from the Tibetan Cooperative Society, CM Sai sanctioned funding for crucial infrastructure projects: Rs 10 lakh for a CC road connecting Sela Resort to the Buddhist temple and Rs 20 lakh for the construction of a shed at the ancient Buddhist temple. The event included a tree-planting ceremony and a warm reception for the Chief Minister in accordance with Tibetan traditions.
