The village of Puvarti in Sukma district, previously impacted by Naxalism, was the site of an exceptional event where CRPF jawans participated in a wedding. The jawans, who were providing security, performed the role of the bride’s brothers, giving her gifts and joining in the village’s wedding celebrations. Puvarti is the home of Hidma, a well-known Naxal commander. Security was provided by the 150th Battalion. The villagers brought the bride to the CRPF camp during her farewell, allowing her to meet the soldiers who were protecting them. The CRPF officers and jawans offered their blessings, gave gifts to the bride, and joined in the festivities, dancing and singing with the villagers. This event is a testament to peace, trust, and transformation in a region previously affected by Naxal violence. These instances of trust are coming about due to the peace and development efforts by central and state governments. This wedding in Puvarti went beyond a social event; it represented a historical moment, constructing a foundation of trust.
