MOU signed between the Department of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh and Continental Hospital Telangana in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal
A 240-bed high-tech super specialty hospital will be started in Bastar at a cost of 200 crores, now patients will not have to go to Raipur and Bilaspur for treatment

Today, a historic step was taken towards the expansion and strengthening of health services in Chhattisgarh. In a program organized at Mahanadi Bhawan, in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, an agreement (MOU) was signed between the Department of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh and Continental Hospital Telangana. This agreement has been made under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
On this occasion, Forest and Transport Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Pingua, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat, Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria, Commissioner Health Dr. Priyanka Shukla, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) officials Shri Jaideep Das Gupta and Srinivas Rao and Dr. Gurunath Reddy, Dr. Raghunath Reddy, and Shri K.V. Reddy, President of Continental Hospital Hyderabad, were among many senior officials present.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the aim of the state government is to reach world-class health facilities to every citizen of the state including tribal areas. He said that the construction of this hospital was started eight years ago and today when Chhattisgarh is celebrating its silver jubilee, the signing of this MOU has historical significance. This agreement, which took place on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh festival, is a good sign for the people of the state.
The Chief Minister further said that the people of Bastar region have been deprived of high-level medical facilities for a long time, but now this hospital will prove to be a boon for them. Especially for the soldiers deployed on the Naxal front, it will prove to be life-saving. Earlier, injured soldiers had to be sent to Raipur by air ambulance, now they will get state-of-the-art treatment in Jagdalpur itself.
Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that the objective of the state government is that every citizen should get better health services on time. The establishment of a super specialty hospital in Bastar region is a matter of pride for the state and the people of the region. Earlier, these services were available only in big cities like Raipur and Bilaspur, but now the people of Bastar will also be able to take advantage of these facilities. He said that the health department will provide all possible resources to deal with future challenges.
Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria informed that the construction of this super specialty hospital has cost Rs 200 crore, out of which Rs 120 crore has been borne by the central government and Rs 80 crore by the state government. National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has also made a significant contribution to this project. He said that this hospital is spread over 11 acres and is equipped with modern machines and equipment.
This 10-storey hospital will have a capacity of 240 beds. Departments like cardiology, nephrology, brain disease and neuro surgery, urology, gastroenterology will be operated in it. State-of-the-art facilities of intensive care including OPD, ICU and emergency services will be available here. A team of specialist doctors will provide treatment at government rates.
The benefit of these services available at government rates will be available not only to Bastar division but also to the patients of entire Chhattisgarh and the country. On this occasion, the officers, public representatives and representatives of Continental Hospital management present described this historic initiative as a milestone for the health sector of the state. This will benefit lakhs of people in Bastar region with advanced health services and reduce their dependence on big cities. This hospital will prove to be a new hope and life-giving facility not only for Bastar but also for the patients of entire Chhattisgarh and the country.
