Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai visited the market on the occasion of Navratri festival – Enthusiasm among traders and consumers with GST 2.0
Raipur, On the auspicious occasion of Navratri festival, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai visited the MG Road and nearby major markets of Raipur, the capital, and had cordial conversations with traders and consumers. This occasion was also special because GST 2.0, implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has provided new simplicity and transparency to the tax system. The atmosphere of the entire market was filled with joy and enthusiasm due to the arrival of the Chief Minister. Traders and citizens welcomed him everywhere and the slogans of “Thank you Modi ji” echoed. The Chief Minister had a direct conversation with the shopkeepers and came to know how much benefit the new tax system has given to both traders and consumers.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai walked through the market from Jaistambh Chowk in Raipur to Gurunanak Chowk via Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the evening and visited various establishments to review the GST savings festival. During this time, Chief Minister Shri Sai also put up savings festival stickers in the shops and had cordial discussions with local shopkeepers and customers.
During the market visit, there was a lot of enthusiasm among the traders. Various trade organizations and operators warmly welcomed Chief Minister Shri Sai.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that GST reforms will accelerate the country’s economic activities, which will also boost local employment. The comprehensive GST reforms recently implemented by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have reduced taxes and customers are getting direct benefit of it.
Chief Minister Shri Sai started the market visit by visiting Shri Shankar Hanuman Temple located at Sharda Chowk.
In a conversation with the Chief Minister, Ms. Richa Thakur, a resident of Samta Colony, who came to purchase at Leela Shriram Electronics, said that her big concern has been removed by the GST cut. She told that she had to buy 5 ACs for her hostel. Products that previously cost ₹35,000 per AC are now available for ₹30,000 after the cut and discount, which saved ₹25,000 at once. Richa thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this decision.
Similarly, Mr. Mohan Nebhani, the proprietor of MS Traders, said that during the savings festival, the Chief Minister himself came to his shop and inquired about the benefits of the customers. He told the Chief Minister that the GST cut has increased the customers’ shopping and they are saving ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 on every item.
Chief Minister Shri Sai visited various shops located on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and had cordial conversations with shopkeepers and customers. During the market walk, the general public welcomed and greeted the Chief Minister with a shower of flowers.
The Chief Minister was welcomed at Jaistambh Chowk by the Chamber of Commerce and party officials. After this, he reached Sharda Chowk and visited the deity’s idol and had cordial conversations with the devotees. During this time, he gave Navratri greetings.
After this, the Chief Minister proceeded on foot from Poonam Hotel to Manju Mamata Hotel. From small shopkeepers standing on the roadside to big establishments, everyone showed eagerness to interact with the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister also listened to everyone’s बातें with affection and knew their reactions on the benefits of GST 2.0.
Chief Minister Shri Sai visited establishments like Tiny Teaser and Kids on Wheel Cycle Store and took information about the reduced tax rates on children’s goods and household items. By visiting electronics shops, he came to know how much cheaper the goods are available to the consumers as compared to before. The shopkeepers said that the new provisions have made it easier to do business and the trust of the customers has also increased.
Sharing his experience, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this coincidence of Navratri festival and historic cut in GST rates is no less than a festival for both trade and consumers. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the tax system has become more transparent and simple. This will not only facilitate the traders but also result in direct savings in the pockets of the common consumers.
The Chief Minister elaborated that now there are only two slabs left. Essential items like soap, toothpaste, bicycles and kitchen items will now be available at only 5 percent tax, which will save every family ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 annually. Similarly, food items like bread, milk, packed namkeen and gram have become completely tax-free, which will save from two and a half to three and a half thousand rupees annually. By removing taxes on health and life insurance, people will save about ₹4,500 on a policy of ₹25,000 and ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 annually on senior citizen insurance.
Chief Minister Shri Sai finally said that GST 2.0 will also greatly benefit the business world. This reform will have a positive impact on all sectors of industry, trade, investment and employment.
The Chief Minister requested the entrepreneurs and traders to promote local production and also appealed to the consumers to proudly say – “I buy Swadeshi and sell Swadeshi.” He called it a mantra that would take India’s economic future to new heights.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MLA Shri Sunil Soni, Shri Purandar Mishra, Shri Moti Lal Sahu, Chairman of Nan Shri Sanjay Srivastava, Amit Chimnani, Ramesh Thakur, Nandan Jain, along with local public representatives, various trade organizations and a large number of dignitaries were present.
