Bilaspur now hosts Chhattisgarh’s largest Durga Puja pandal. Situated along the Arpa River, the pandal covers 2 lakh square feet and features a stunning 25-foot idol of Goddess Durga. The Adarsh Durgotsav Samiti, Gondpara Subhash Nagar, is the organizing entity behind the event.
The committee is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a grand celebration. The pandal on the Arpa River bank is designed around Rajasthani cultural themes. A ‘Jagrata’ event took place before Navratri, featuring a performance by the celebrated singer Dukalu Yadav, which was well-attended. The installation of the idol followed the ‘Chunari Yatra’ on the first day of Navratri.
The organizers are proud that their Durga Puja pandal is the biggest in Chhattisgarh. This year’s Navratri celebrations are modeled after the ‘Mahakumbh,’ with the Arpa River bank beautifully decorated. A fair is also happening.
For ten days, the Durga idol will be on display, and there will be performances from famous artists, including devotional music and cultural programs. The committee has created a Rajasthani-style pandal with artistic elements and a palace-like structure to make the event special. The 2 lakh square feet pandal is beautifully decorated, with inside decorations and temple-like designs that incorporate Chhattisgarh’s culture, attracting a large number of visitors.
